Happy Father's Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day. My lovely lady took me out to dinner at El Jarocho, a local Mexican restaurant in our hometown. The food was amazing, as usual. I also talked to my dad today over the phone. My dad and mom are currently in Texas visiting with my sister, but they will soon be moving back to the coast close to me. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

Adobe Firefly Fun

I have been having fun with Adobe Firefly, an AI image-creation tool. These are a few images I made based on the logo for blatherbox, and a few are just based on the name. Here are a few of them. Click on the comments link to see more.

Charles Barkley Retiring

Charles Barkley has announced that he will retire from broadcasting after the next NBA season. The Chuckster has been a 24-year veteran of the best NBA show on television, Inside The NBA on TNT. The NBA's latest broadcasting negotiations do not currently include TNT as a broadcasting partner. Barkley said he talked to other networks but only wants to work for TNT. He also said that even if TNT does work it out, he will still be retiring from broadcasting.

"I really love TNT, all the people who work here, NBA television, you guys have been great to me for 24 years. I want to say thank you to my entire NBA family, I love you guys. There's been a lot of noise around our network the last few months.

'I just want to say, I've talked to all the other networks, but I ain't going nowhere other than TNT... but I have made the decision myself, no matter what happens, next year is going to be my last year on television."

- Charles Barkley

Next year should be a great one, knowing all the antics they will be doing on Inside The NBA, especially if it ends up being the show's last season. As an added treat to this post, I drew a picture of Charles Barkley in High School (1995) that I will share.

Deadpool & Wolverine

The movie "Deadpool & Wolverine" is still over a month away from being released. This is the first Marvel movie I have been excited about in a long time. Hopefully, it will get the MCU back on track and moving in the right direction. From what I have heard and seen, Disney is letting Deadpool be Deadpool, which is excellent! I am doing my best to stay away from any possible spoilers. Hopefully, this won't be the last Deadpool movie; we will hopefully see some cameos if it is. Is anyone else excited to see this movie and feel it is something fresh for the MCU?

Jerry West Dies At 86

Jerry West and Bill Walton are two NBA legends we have lost recently. Both had significant impacts on the game I love.

NBA Legend Jerry West passed away yesterday at the age of 86. His image inspired the NBA logo. He was a Laker legend who was a fourteen-time all-star, twelve-time All-NBA Team (ten on the first team), and five-time All-Defensive Team. He made it to the NBA finals nine times but only won the title once. He is the only player in history to win the NBA Finals MVP while on the losing team. Jerry also has a scoring title and an assist title.

However, Jerry West's legacy extended far beyond his playing days. He transitioned into one of the most successful NBA executives the league has ever seen. His leadership and strategic acumen earned him the Executive of the Year title twice. As an NBA GM, he guided the Lakers to six titles and the Warriors to two. Just like the NBA Logo, Jerry West is an icon.

Neverending Story Remake

See-Saw Productions announced in March that a remake of the Neverending Story film franchise is in the works. If you are like me, a kid of the '80s, you probably grew up watching the main movie and the sequels. I loved The Neverending Story as a kid and haven't seen it in ages, but I am sure this cult favorite from the '80s is just as good today. From what I read, this will be a fresh adaptation of the book series that came out in 1979. Falkor, Bastian, Atreyu, Rockbiter, and even Gmork. I can't wait to see the casting for these beloved characters.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited or tired of all the remakes of the classics?

Celtics! One Win Away!

My prediction was wrong. The Boston Celtics took a 3-0 lead against the Dallas Mavericks tonight. Boston is now one win away from winning the NBA Finals. The Celtics have successfully made the Eastern Finals six out of the last eight seasons and the Finals twice out of the previous three seasons. Their time is now. They have a pretty good core that could possibly make another few runs at the championship, but you never know. My hometown team, the Trailblazers, will probably be in the lottery again after next season. No championship is coming home anytime soon!
