Goonies Article

Just posted a new article for the site on The Goonies: Goonies Are Good Enough

The Goonies is an iconic movie from the 1980s that has reached legendary status. It was produced by Steven Spielberg and directed and co-produced by the late Richard Donner. The classic has been watched and loved by generations. Whenever I read a discussion of a sequel or a remake, I pause and wonder why they would do that. I know those out there, including cast members, would love to revisit The Goonies with a sequel. The Goonies is such a great movie that it should remain a one-off and be left as is. Unless the movie is done exceptionally well with a great script, it will never equal or surpass the original. Nostalgia is such a great thing, and watching this movie takes you back to a time when you were an adventurous kid if you are in my age range. I was nine years old when this movie was released. Even now, driving down the coast, this movie crosses my mind. Also, living in Astoria, The Goonies is a constant reminder of my childhood. Kindergarten Cop and Short Circuit are two other 80s classics filmed in Astoria, Oregon.

Deadpool & Wolverine

The movie "Deadpool & Wolverine" is still over a month away from being released. This is the first Marvel movie I have been excited about in a long time. Hopefully, it will get the MCU back on track and moving in the right direction. From what I have heard and seen, Disney is letting Deadpool be Deadpool, which is excellent! I am doing my best to stay away from any possible spoilers. Hopefully, this won't be the last Deadpool movie; we will hopefully see some cameos if it is. Is anyone else excited to see this movie and feel it is something fresh for the MCU?

Neverending Story Remake

See-Saw Productions announced in March that a remake of the Neverending Story film franchise is in the works. If you are like me, a kid of the '80s, you probably grew up watching the main movie and the sequels. I loved The Neverending Story as a kid and haven't seen it in ages, but I am sure this cult favorite from the '80s is just as good today. From what I read, this will be a fresh adaptation of the book series that came out in 1979. Falkor, Bastian, Atreyu, Rockbiter, and even Gmork. I can't wait to see the casting for these beloved characters.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited or tired of all the remakes of the classics?
